The Beat Goes On: Sounds of Philly Continues at PHL This Fall

bandAfter a successful summer with more than 30 performances, Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) “Sounds of Philly” music program will continue this fall. “PHL Presents: Sounds of Philly” is part of Mayor Cherelle L. Parker’s initiative giving passengers and employees the opportunity to experience curated performances featuring an array of Philadelphia artists. Partners include Creative Philadelphia, and the Original Music City Task Force. Performances included jazz, rap, percussion, vocals, duos, and more. Guests can expect a similar variety of entertainment before departure or after arrival. The Sounds of Philly fall program will begin on Tuesday, September 1.

PHL Presents: Sounds of Philly was designed to create an authentic Philadelphia welcome through live music that enhances the guest experience while celebrating the city’s rich and distinctive musical heritage,” said Leah Douglas, Director of Guest Experience. “We are proud to support local artists by providing a unique venue to showcase their talents to a global audience. The energy these performances bring to our terminals is uplifting, creating memorable, family-friendly moments for guests as they travel through PHL.”

 

Upcoming performers for September include:

  • Tuesday, September 1, 11:30 a.m.-1p.m., stage between Terminals B and C: Emily Drinker and Josh Steingard (vocalist with guitar)

  • Thursday, September 3, 2- 3:30 p.m. Terminal A-West: Maya Simone (TBD)

  • Tuesday, September 8, 2 - 3:30 p.m. Terminal A-West: Kate Gaffney and Ben Chandler (folk music) 

  • Thursday, September 10, 2p.m. - 3:30 p.m., stage between Terminals B and C: Rachel Andie (guitar soloist)

  • Tuesday, September 15, 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., Terminal E: Eamon Kelly and Nathan Bishop (Irish fiddle and violin)

  • Thursday, September 17, 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., stage between Terminals B and C: The Flying Vees (vocalists) 

  • Tuesday, September 22, 11:30 a.m. - 1p.m., stage between Terminals B and C: Max Davey and Steve Novoa (guitar and vocals)
