The City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation’s Geographic Information System (GIS) team celebrated Worldwide GIS Day by providing an update on Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) and Northeast Philadelphia Airport’s (PNE) recent and current projects.

For over two decades, the American Association of Airport Executives' (AAAE) Arts in the Airport Workshop has been the only event focused specifically on airport art, providing valuable learning and networking opportunities for professionals responsible for overseeing and managing airport art programs. Three of those sessions have been hosted by Philadelphia International Airport (PHL).  

If passengers find themselves with time to spare before their flights, Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) offers a range of activities to help pass the time comfortably and enjoyably. Each terminal and connector is equipped with unique facilities designed to enhance guests’ airport experience.  

Once past the security checkpoints, guests will find that all of PHL’s terminals are connected, ensuring seamless navigation. For convenience, a shuttle service is available from the Terminal A/B Connector and Terminal C to Terminal F.

The post-Thanksgiving holiday continues to include a number of special days dedicated to holiday shopping. The Tuesday following Thanksgiving is now dubbed "Travel Tuesday” with many airlines, hotels, and other providers offering specials. Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) marked the completion of the two-year SEPTA Airport Line Platform Upgrade Project with a ribbon cutting on November 15, 2024. Joining Department of Aviation CEO Atif Saeed and Chief Development Officer Api Appulingam, were Pennsylvania State Representative Regina Young and SEPTA General Manager and CEO Leslie Richards.

The Department of Aviation held its 15th annual America Recycles Day Celebration in honor of National America Recycles Day, November 15th. The event showcased the Department of Aviation’s and Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) and Northeast Philadelphia Airport’s (PNE) commitment to recycling and its successes in  waste diversion.
