What is your current position at PHL and how long have you worked here? 

Happy International Women in Engineering Day! Now in its seventh year, this special day celebrates women in engineering, while encouraging people all over the world to help raise the profile of women in engineering and to persuade girls and young women to consider engineering as a profession.

At Philadelphia International Airport and Northeast Philadelphia Airport, we are extremely proud of our women in engineering and the work they do every day to enhance the guest experience, bring innovation to our airfields and terminals, and strengthen our regional economic impact.

Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) has launched its COVID-19 Air Service Recovery and Incentive Program (CASRIP), an innovative offering aimed at driving fast recovery wins while creating economic stability for the Philadelphia region. 

2019 was a busy year for Philadelphia International Airport and Northeast Philadelphia Airport’s Sustainability Program. We continued our focus on the areas of Recycling, Energy, Noise, Emissions, and Water (RENEW); consulted our cross-disciplinary Sustainability Committee; and frequently engaged with stakeholders.

The City of Philadelphia’s Division of Aviation observes two anniversaries during the last days of June: Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) 80th on June 20 and Northeast Philadelphia Airport’s (PNE) 75th on June 26.  

With public confidence and a desire to travel on the rise in recent weeks, JetBlue will restore its nonstop service from Philadelphia to Boston and Fort Lauderdale beginning July 1.  

With passenger demand on the rise and vacation season underway, Spirit Airlines is increasing nonstop service from PHL, including the resumption of eight routes.  

Back in March as the COVID-19 pandemic was rapidly spreading along with government-mandated shutdowns and restrictions that, among other things, turned airports into virtual ghost towns, Allan Moore recalls the strange sense of walking through Philadelphia International Airport’s deserted complex.

-What is your current position at PHL and how long have you worked here? 

I started at PHL in 2006 as a Custodial Worker 1,  I worked my way up through the ranks and I’m now a Custodial Supervisor 2. I coordinate cleaning activities at the airport and oversee custodial workers assigned to cleaning the terminals for passengers.  

In March, when Pennsylvania limited restaurants to to-go service and retail merchants to those selling essential goods only, and stay-at-home orders and travel restrictions resulted in a 90 percent decrease in passenger volume, PHL Food & Shops right-sized its terminal offerings. With restrictions now easing and passenger activity on the rise, merchants that have been closed for almost three months are beginning to resume ope
